Wow, thanks for sharing this. It’s incredibly helpful. I’m currently experiencing burnout and feel exhausted most of the time, disengaged from my work. Your idea of having an anchor and lifelines is brilliant. I’ve never considered that before, but I can see how it could be beneficial in cultivating a healthier and more holistic life. My anchor is my faith in God, and my lifelines are writing poetry. I feel joy and connection when I write, and I want to do more of it. Secondly, I love going for a run and getting lost in the process of nature. Thirdly, when I feel connected to my breath and can disengage from the chaos I feel, I find meditation helpful.
Ofcourse Stefanos! Thanks for stopping by to read. Burnout is so tough and I've been through it more times than once. I love that your anchor is your faith in God too. Please so share your poetry - I love poetry! Nature is also super healing. How has it been tapping back into your lifelines? The world pulls us in so many distractions so fighting back in rebellion by putting what we love first is freeing
Reconnecting with my lifelines has been a journey. Nature, poetry, and faith have been my anchors, helping me find clarity and peace, but I won’t pretend it’s always easy. The world is full of distractions that can pull me away, and it takes real intention to prioritize what truly nourishes me. But when I do—when I step outside, write, or lean into my faith—I feel lighter, like I’m reclaiming a part of myself that the noise of the world tries to drown out.
Poetry, in particular, has been such a powerful outlet for me. I’ve been sharing more of my work on Instagram lately, and I’d love to share it with you as well! How has it been for you?
Your poetry definitely resonates with a part of my journey over the last 2 years. I'm going to print this and frame it in my house =). I have a few others people have sent me and given me and I will add to the collection. I'm not on IG often but please share your handle but also feel free to email me mack.s.sasha@gmail.com - always down for some poetry
intention is real, being deliberate with how we spend our time and energy is so important. agreed with soo many distractions but we can't let ourselves get too distant from what keeps us alive
You’re very welcome, and I truly appreciate your kind words. I’m glad it resonated with you. When I wrote this, I was going through several transition periods in my life and was attempting to reconnect with my authentic self. Thank you. I’ll also send you an email. My Instagram handle is @AfricanThought, and my poetry page is @poet_of_ruminations. Yes, I wholeheartedly agree that we shouldn’t let distractions hinder our progress because what truly makes us feel alive is our true essence.

I choose love over fear
In moments both dark and clear
I choose hope over despair
When the burden's hard to bear
I choose right over wrong
Though the easy path calls strong
Despite how times I fumble
When my steps begin to crumble
I rise again each dawn
My spirit pushing on
Through storms and through the night
I keep my values bright
I'm a man of my word my faith is all I have And in this truth I'll always stand
ahhh this is amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing - the world needs your poetry. My jaw dropped when I initially read it. I typically reshare poetry I love on my medium page- here's a link to a few that resonate with me: https://medium.com/blacksheepgoldfleece/poems-to-carve-your-own-path-ef2f30ab3483
